You’ll receive a membership card, Semi-Annual copies of our paper: “the Gangplank”, and other messages of import.

If you are one of our almost 8,000 members, I want to remind you that we only have life memberships, rather than annual memberships. This decision we made years ago. We still think it was the right decision. But now, we are facing our own economic ‘depression’, as is our country and the world. Please remember we do not ask for annual dues as other similar organizations do, so I/we encourage you to send in monthly or periodic tax deductible donations (we are a 501C3 charitable corporation) designated for our operating expenses, senior sweater / traditions fund or for Gangplank production expenses.

Here’s another idea to consider and at upon, Why not make The Balboa Alumni Association “your charity of choice”. When you donate this way, you can be assured that your donations will be used wisely and well, with volunteers (not paid administrators) handling alumni affairs and finances. Please, please seriously consider this. This is what I and other alums are doing.

Also, let us know if you have time to get more involved as a board or advisory committee member, or as a volunteer whom we can call upon when help is needed. I believe you will find it a rewarding experience. (If you have expertise in some area, let us know.)

In closing, let me remind you of the first few words of our Balboa Hymn, composed by the late (and great) Salvatore Billeci: “We’re loyal all and ever true”. Please help us by being loyal and true to our beloved alma mater, Balboa High School.
